LMAO! Hate Haysi? Hardly, Junior. One of my good friends is on the coaching staff at Haysi & talk to him often. When I tell him Haysi's regular season schedule is weak in conversation, he can talk about it with me in a sensible and diplomatic manner while realizing not everyone will agree on said topic, and not go on the offensive such as most if not all do on here.
One question for the masses, when did Colley start running a spread offense? If it was in 2003 or before, then it wasn't much of an offense from what I had seen in past years. The level of competition has a lot to do with this. Powell Valley's spread last year and this year as well is much more potent than what I have seen out of Haysi, including game film. Again, the biggest difference is the quality of regular season opponents. Granted, Honaker had a good team and has a good program, but after them there is no one on Haysi's schedule worth a plug nickel. The level of competition Haysi has faced will be their downfall. Haysi faced 3 teams with winning records this season - Honaker, who beat them in the regular season, Rye Cove, a Division 1 Cumberland District team that they had to take to overtime to defeat (and got beat down hard by Div. 1 J.I. Burton) & Hurley, who lost 44-0 through 3 quarters of ball to Appalachia when Tom Turner called off the Dawgs. If you can't admit Haysi's regular season schedule is lacking, you must be on some good drugs or so full of foolish pride you can't admit to the fact(s).
I know Haysi has very good skill personnel, a good defense, good coaching staff as well...but they haven't been prepared during the regular season to face playoff-caliber teams. I do wish them the best of luck, as I would like to see Powell Valley knocked off, but I really don't see it happening based on the above. If you wasn't so uptight and shallow-minded thinking everyone is going to agree with what you have to say and your opinion(s), maybe you could see how others view the world outside of those rose-colored glasses you happen to be peering through. Sorry I got a few peoples panties in a wad, I thought this forum was for opinions. I guess you have to agree with the majority for it to be acceptable.

you look at the passing game pv has, like i said before, its colleys and if you dont want to admit it too bad. the truth is the truth. bostic is form haysi and when he started coaching for pv thats when the mighty pv started passing the ball junior. get your story straight.

Hey redtiger, not being a butt but I might add that Burton beat us and we beat Gate City and Gate City dominated burton and we just slaughtered GC. We beat Burton twice. Sorry but ya can't compare past games and IMO PV just gave the game away to Clintwood. This year in the LPD if you compare past games teams have played earlier in the year then you will be in for a SHOCK.

Second of all I do know some of our football players read this forum. Saying the Vikings suck and talking trash on here before playing PV is not a good idea. Just go to the Single A board on Virginia preps and ask the Giles people what happened when all they did was talked trash that whole week last year.

I-catching started comparing our game with RC so I compared our game with Cwood just to shut him up about comparing games as we all know now the regular season means nothing its PV and Haysi thats all that matters

and saying vikings suck was not trash talking its my personal opnion

I am concerned about the spread O it dismantled GC, but I think we have more speed on the D line and at middle backer

Vikings suck has always been the opinion of a lot of people. Even when Julius played that's all we heard from other teams.

Pv doesn't think they'll cruise through Haysi. They know better than that.

Why do you think PV sucks? Not startin nothin but I want to know why.

Ofcourse Haysi has a weaker schedule than Powell Valley...one of the main reasons for that is no one will play Haysi. They have tried over the years to get Graham, Tazewell, Richlands, Lebanon, even mighty Powell Valley has turned them down for a regular season meeting....but I guess your Haysi coach friend probably already told you that. You play who you play and deal with the rest later. I agree with redtiger in that the teams the two have played this year is going to have very little bearing when they square off this Saturday. They said the same thing back in '93 when PV came to town about how the tough LPD schedule had them better prepared. Its going to be about who gets it done on the field face to face and not about who they played this year. The two common opponents that Haysi and PV had this year were Clintwood and Lee...Haysi won both of those games by 3 touchdowns while PV was 1-1. Talking about Rye Cove they played PV to within a TD through 3 qtrs last year at Bullitt Park when PV was supposed to be the next coming of the New England Patriots. You can put any kind of spin you want on it to make it sound better for your own argument. But like I said past games don't matter much...all that matters is this game. Lets see what happens.

I think PV is young and their major advantage is the spread O noboby in the LPD runs it other than them not even a little (sort of like playing the single wing for the first time you just dont know what to do or think)combine that with team speed and they have a huge advantage

but haysi has seen the spread (honaker) not a very effective version but still a verson we will be ready for it we have the personel to practice against it and we run it a little

a big advantage for us is PV has not seen a running game like ours yes GC runs the ball but they dont have the quick backs we have and clintwood and JIB can run the ball but they dont have the power backs we have

to some other people talking about PV running colleys spread I dont know about that but we have had it in our offensive package for a long time

Phil Robbins did not get his offense from James Colley...don't know where that idea ever came from. Robbins was running a pro style offense back in the 80's and was very successful with it even then. Todd Blagg and Robbie Duncan both threw for big time yards and alot of TD's. Blagg graduated in 86 and Duncan graduated in '91. Phil might listen to Kory as far as picking up Haysi audibles and such but other than that not much. The reason PV went to a ground attack in the 90's has more to do with having 2 future NFL running backs come through there. I surely hope to God that Colley would have done the same thing if TJ and JJ had went to Haysi. As soon as Robbin's personnel was more suitable to pass he went back to it. Good coaches will adapt that way.

No more trash talking. You can't compare past games. On a side note I despise phil robbins and hope he falls off the face of the earth but PV doesn't suck. I think we're a better team but we'll see.
